IGCSE/A-LEVEL
Enrolling is easy. Fill out our application form on our website.
For online courses you should get your login details within a couple of hours, for paper courses we aim to deliver within 3 working days.
None of our courses have a deadline for enrolment. So, you can start at any time,
Most of our courses are open to everyone and don’t have any entrance requirements. Some higher-level courses may require previous level of study, if this is the case it will be detailed on the course page.
All of our GCSE and A-Level courses are online which means that you can study whenever and wherever you want. At OCE Online Learning, we believe that convenience is the future of learning and our courses have been designed around that principle.
The first thing you do is meet your online tutor.
Your Online Course Tutor is key to your GCSE or A-Level success, which is why all our tutors are currently teaching in the field of study, a practising professional or recently retired in their teaching field.
Our tutors are easily contactable by email and enjoy helping students get the best results and experience from their GCSE or A-Level chosen course.
You can then work through your online course with your tutor’s support.
You will read, complete activities, submit assignments and quickly start to get to grips with your chosen GCSE or A-level subject and enjoy the achievement of working through your learning outcomes.
Online
The course is primarily an online course using a Learning Management System (LMS).
The online course has many features that cannot be printed such as embedded videos, forums and interactive tests.
The course includes Tutor Marked Assessments which you access and submit through the online system.
All the content required to prepare the student for the exam is included.
The content is text, videos, and interactive quizzes that students complete at the end of each unit. They can do this as many times as they need to until you are confident enough to move on to the next section. This is called Mastery Learning.
We don’t offer live classes, and we offer all the materials students need to be fully prepared for the exams and Tutor Support via online messaging if they select it or by email.
Our GCSE, IGCSE courses come with tutor feedback and support by email for 12 months and A-level 24 months.
They will mark TMAs and provide valuable guidance through any trickier parts of the course whenever they need it.
However, If they need extra help/lessons, students can explore all the modules and units and identify where need additional help so we can talk to the tutors to give them an extra 1 on 1 lesson and for that, they need to pay separately. Most of our students do not need extra help as everything covers in the portal.
If a student selects the Tutor Support Option, they can also message your Tutor and submit your assignments for marking.
The Tutor Marked Assessments are devised from past papers, so these give students the opportunity to practice for the exams. All the subjects are made up of the same interactive content.
Yes. Learning online has become a part of the ‘new normal’ for delivering high quality education. It is also a very safe method during the current pandemic. Modern e-Learning platforms provide a wonderful opportunity for you to receive the best education possible at just the click of a button.
You have 12 months from the date of purchase to complete the course. Within this timeframe you can move through the course as quickly or as slowly as you want. You can extend your course for a further 6 months for a nominal fee.
* This does not apply to our A-Level courses which last 24 months
This depends on how much time you are willing to prioritise. Each course has a recommended study time, which we believe is imperative to complete in order to guarantee a pass in the final exam. An IGCSE or GCSE has recommended study duration of 120 hours. If you can commit 10 hours of studying per week, the course can be completed in 12 weeks. An A- level has recommended study duration of 300 hours.
OCE offer the perfect courses for anyone who is looking to home-school their child. All our GCSE, IGCSE and A-level courses follow the awarding body specification, so you can be reassured that you are teaching your child the relevant content for their final.
The GCSE (General Certificate in Secondary Education) and the IGCSE (or International GCSE) are essentially the same thing, in that they are both world-class, Level 2 qualifications that have been accredited to the same standards, grade for grade, and should be recognised in the exactly same way by employers and academic institutions.
The key difference between the GCSE and IGCSE is the emphasis on the exams. In the past, GCSEs allowed an element of coursework to count for final grades, which was viewed as lowering the standard of the qualification. However, the UK government toughened these rules, bringing it more in line with the difficulty of the IGCSE.
All colleges and universities in the UK accept the IGCSE equally and many private and international schools choose to offer the IGCSE in preference to the GCSE. It’s currently studied in 55 countries worldwide and is offered at over 350 independent schools in the UK alone. You should feel safe in the knowledge that all our courses are gold-standard, international qualifications that will take you wherever in the world you want to go.
If you want to change your course you can do so within the first 14 days of purchase. Please bear in mind that courses differ in prices and you will be expected to pay the difference should that apply.
Because all our learning material is delivered online, you will need to ensure you have a working device such as a tablet, Smartphone or laptop which has satisfactory connectivity to the internet. For international students who wish to study their course at our college, FREE computers, WIFI, and all other facilities available to use on campus.
Yes. As long as you have access to the internet, our courses can be displayed on all devices
Most of our course packs will include all of the learning materials you need to complete your studies, including study guides and even software where necessary. However, particularly with A-Level courses like English Literature, it may sometimes be necessary for you to purchase additional texts. Your tutor will offer guidance on the specific editions you require.
Our courses come with tutor feedback and support by email for 12 months. Tutors will mark your TMAs and provide valuable guidance through any trickier parts of the course whenever you need it. You will also receive a study guide to help you with all aspects of studying, essay writing and general student skills.
You can contact your tutor by email 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and they will aim to get back to you as soon as possible.
Although we do not offer face to face IGCSE/A-Level classes on campus, as this is a self-study course, we are aware of the difficulties that students may face in terms of concentration and motivation. Therefore we will assist and supervise the student by providing access to facilities such as our classroom/library/internet/computer on campus.
Yes, each course had a number of Tutor Marked Assessments. You will send these back to your tutor who will mark them and give you feedback on your progress. For some courses, such as A-Levels, you will also need to sit some exams.
Your course will include all your assessments. As you work through your course you will complete each assessment as and when you get to it, and email it to your tutor. Your tutor will mark your work within 10 working days, normally quicker. If you pass then you will be free to start working towards the next assessment. If your work is ‘referred’ then you will have a chance to implement the recommended improvements and re-submit.
Some courses require exams. This will be detailed in the course page. Each course is different, but your course will help you prepare for your examination and your tutor will be on hand to answer any questions.
Students often get confused by the difference between the work they do during their course, which is tested by their Tutor-marked Assignments and board-examined coursework, which is entirely different.
Tutor-marked Assignments (or TMAs) are not coursework; they are progress checks for the student and the tutor. Every course will have several TMAs but they do not in any way contribute towards your final exam grade.
Board-examined coursework is only required for certain subjects at A Level. None of the GCSE or IGCSEs that we offer now has coursework. Where included, coursework is very important as it can contribute up to 25% of your final marks and therefore substantially influence your grade. The system for dealing with it is complicated and requires an amount of form filling, but we have a lot of experience in this area and our Exam Officer is there to guide you through it.
It is very important that students recognise the difference between TMAs and board-examined coursework.
Board-examined coursework is marked by an examiner who works for the exam board and is known as “the moderator”. Your OCE tutor never marks your coursework, nor is he or she allowed to estimate what grade it might be worth. Tutors also have to work under very strict rules about how much help they can give you with your coursework, and how many TMAs they have to have seen before they can sign to confirm that the work is your own. This is known as “authentication” and you cannot submit coursework for marking by the examiner unless your work has first been authenticated by your tutor.
IGCSE, A-Level exams and practicals are sat at an exam centre local to you. On purchasing the course OCE Online Learning will provide you with a list of recommended exam centers. The practicals are not marked, but you will need to be observed by an examination centre to demonstrate competence in the different techniques. The practicals are usually held in spring of each year, while the written exams are in May/June. All exam fees will be paid by the student directly to their chosen exam centre.
OCE Learning will provide you with everything you need to prepare for your exam. However, we cannot book your exam for you; this has to be done by the student themselves. This can be done on the awarding body website. If you need help with this, do not hesitate to get in touch.
It’s worth bearing in mind that if you’re taking a course that involves an exam, exam dates are on fixed dates. So you’ll need to enroll early enough to be able to complete all your assignments and any non-exam assessment in time. To avoid late fees, book at least 6 months in advance for GCSE and IGCSE & 7 Months for A-Level
All new science A-Levels include an optional practical lab-skills pathway which will be required by most universities for students pursuing STEM subjects. These practical assessments will be taken at the exam centre you have chosen to take your written exams. Not all centers will offer this pathway so you will need to check availability in your area. If you’re having difficulty locating a practical centre in your area, let us know.
The 9-1 grading scheme was brought in alongside a new GCSE curriculum in England. The highest grade is 9, while 1 is the lowest, not including a U (ungraded).Three number grades – 9, 8 and 7 – correspond to the old-style top grades of A* and A – this is designed to give more differentiation at the top end.
Yes, these courses are designed in parallel with the awarding bodies’ specification for A-Level, GCSE and IGCSE. The material you cover is the same as that which will come up in your exams. Moreover, the exam you sit is booked directly with the awarding body, thus after successful completion you will be given an official qualification certificate from Edexcel/AQA/CIE- not from us at OCE.
Yes, OCE’s online courses use a progression tracking technology which enables both our tutors and yourself to see how many hours, assessments and scores you have completed whilst studying our courses. As such, we have the information necessary to calculate your predicted grade which you can then submit to the awarding body if needed.
Once you’ve enrolled on your course, you can make payments through monthly installments, interest free. You also have the option of paying the full amount upfront. Payment Method (Please click here to see all payment methods)
Our aim is to make learning as affordable and easy possible. If you require a payment plan then please email admissions@oxfordce.co.uk and we will do our best to make arrangements for you to spread your payments.
Please get in touch to discuss any additional fees; such as Exam fees or registration fees, as each course is different.
Exams fees are an additional cost and are paid directly to the exam centre, not OCE. Exam fees vary significantly so we always recommend that you ‘shop-around’ to get the best deal. Awarding bodies charge approx. £40 for IGCSE exams and centers then charge an administration fee on top. Hence, you should expect to pay upwards of £100 for an IGCSE exam. Full A-Level exams start at around £250 depending on the subject chosen.
If you want to cancel please email us at admissions@oxfordce.co.uk, you have the right to cancel within the first 14 days.
We welcome international students; all our tutor support is by email and we can ship your course to you, anywhere in the world. OCE is a great choice for those living abroad and international students. IGCSE and A-level exams can be arranged via the British Council in many overseas countries.

NO TERM TIMES
With Oxford College of Education there are no term times, so you can begin your distance learning
journey at any time of year.
This means you’re not constrained by the typical student calendar and studying really does fit into
your life and not the other way round!
NO BARRIERS !
You can study from anywhere in the world or from your bedroom, in a café on your lunch break or
even in the bath.
You get to set the agenda – and we provide the mobile learning platform to facilitate it.
We welcome international students from across the world; however, do bear in mind some
examinations require you to come to the UK to sit them.
And we can help with that too!
Our social media pages are the perfect place to meet fellow students and enjoy the fun side of being
a student.
Not only can you share hints and tips, but you can discuss what you are learning and spark some
interesting debates.
It’s fascinating learning about a subject on your own but sharing with others is the best way to test
your understanding of the key concepts, learn useful methods that others have found helpful, as
well as meeting likeminded people who are similarly OCE by your chosen subject.
As well as Facebook you can find OCE on Facebook page
Set aside regular time to study – Make sure you know when in your week you are going to study. It
can be on the bus or at home, early in the morning or late at night, but make sure you dedicate
some focused time to it.
Let your friends and family know – Your family and friends love you, but constant interruptions and
invitations to the pub can eat into your study time and affect your results. By making the important
people in your life aware of the importance of your study time and what if means for your future,
they can be there to cheer you on and support your achievements.
Develop a study routine – Develop a routine to get you in the mood to study. This could be preparing
your favourite drink or setting a timer on your phone. Most people find it hard to hold concentration
for more than an hour, so plan in regular breaks. Build a revision plan as you go – There is no better
time to pull out the important concepts from a topic than as you are studying them.
Creating clear notes that highlight the main points will help to steer your revision, when you come to
prepare for an exam or assessment. It can also be useful to use memory techniques like mind maps,
mnemonics and word associations. For more advice why not contact us admissions@oxfordce.co.uk WhatsApp: +44 7494 913216

Assessments are made up of 30 multiple choice questions and last for one hour. There is an assessment at the end of each module. Questions are answered in sets of five to allow for review and editing if required. If a session times out or an issue occurs throughout, the assessment will time out at the point of the previous five questions. Consequently, you will not lose your previous answers. Results are given immediately upon completion. Upon completing all end of module assessments, learners then undertake assignments set by the awarding body to complete the entire course.
